The Lainzer Tiergarten and the Hermesvilla
A halfday-excoursion in Vienna.

My journey starts at the Vienna-West-Station where i get a nearly empty tram 58. 10 min later i change at Kennedybruecke to an other empty tram Nr.60. At 09:15 i change the last time in a Bus Nr.60B which brings me in 6 min to my target, the Lainzer Tor.
Right after the entrance I notice a small hedge with some deer and some mufflons. 15 min later i reach the Hermesvilla, a gift from emperor Franz Joseph for his wife Elisabeth, in the year 1886.

The beautiful renovated rooms are used for temparal exhibition. There are a lot of interesting things to see about hunting in around Vienna. I personally am more impressed by the wonderful wooden staircase and the luxury rooms in the first floor of the Villa.

At 10:45 i am on my way to the Rohrhaus. After a 30min hike through the typical vegetation of the Vienna woods i reach the Rohrhaus, with a big meadow which as a beautiful view. After a short rest, i continue my hike to the Laurenzer-Berg where i reach about 15min later.

Fifty minute later I am at the Nikolai Tor. If the weather is good you should prefer the route through the forest .There are some up and downs but the standard route leads you near the highway where the noise reminds us to be in a big city. When i leave the Lainzer Tiergarten I cross the river Vienna (Most of the time only a small brook) undercross the West-Rail, and turn right. 500m later i reach the Huetteldorf-Station where i can choose between the Subway Nr4 or the train. I take the next train to the West-Station. At 13:30 I reach the station after a very nice excursion.
