The
route |
We
started our trip by going to the Southstation where every 8 min before the full our a train leaves for Baden (34.- ATS /
Person). After 20min we leave the Station at Baden walking through the beautiful small
city following the Kaiser-Franz-Josef-Ring / Pergerstrasse and Helenenstrasse always west,
till we reach after a big "Viaduct" a path leading us to the Ruine Rauheneck
(blue-red marks).(If you not like the 20 min walk through the city, you can take a bus
till the Thermalbad.)

After a short rest at the impressing
high tower of the ruin Rauheneck with a beautiful view over Baden we continue our hike to
the Jägerhaus and from there to the Antonsgrotte where the "Wegerl im Helenental
begins .This was a favorite hiking aerea from Ludwig van Beethoven. At the end of the
Wegerl, we visit the Augustinerhütte where you get very good "Kasnudeln".

After crossing the small river
"Schwechat" we climb the Helenentalsteig which brings us to the ruin
Rauhenstein, passing some big stoneblocks, used by many free-climbers. Right before the
ruin we make an other rest at a beautiful viewpoint. The ruin is quite big and again you
have a marvelous view over Baden.30 min later we reach the End-Stop of the Badner-Bahn at
the Josefsplatz in Baden which brings us back to Vienna-Meidling in 45 min.
